Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure

Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure sole purpose is to raise funds for South FloridaCancer Research. Our family has teamed up with Sylvester Cancer Center byproviding a community-based event that raises funds to be used for local cancerresearch. The goal is to also recognize those that are suffering, fight for those whowe have lost and create awareness to the public.

Our vision for this particular fundraiser came about when our father RobertoAlonso passed away from a rare form of cancer. He never stopped fighting for hislife, therefore we decided to keep fighting this disease in his name. Roberto was adedicated husband, father, grandfather, elected official and mentor to many. Hewas diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer, Mayof 2013. He was given very little hope by many with only days to live but with hisfaith and the doctors at Sylvester Cancer Center he fought for 16 months with thehelp of cutting edge treatments.

His will to live and survive gave his family and friends the desire to want to helpothers going through the same scenarios. Roberto had a passion for antique carsand cars in general, since a young age. He owned a beautiful 1964 Chevy Chevellewhich now belongs to his grandchildren and is the center of our event.

We are now entering our 6th year hosting this great event solely run by volunteerswith 100% of all monies raised going directly to Cancer Research at SylvesterCancer Center. To date, our events have raised close to $100,000 and had over20,000 attendees to our events.
